Flitch Way Family Fun 9 mile cycle ride – Depart: 10am – 11am
Join us at the Old Station, Four Ashes, Takeley for a circular cycle ride along the gravel surface of the former railway line known as the Flitch Way which used to run from Bishop’s Stortford to Dunmow and then on to Braintree.

The cycle track also forms the northern boundary of Hatfield Forest, running directly through countryside with lovely wooded areas, rich wildlife and views over open farmland. There is no traffic which makes it ideal for families with children looking for a safe and enjoyable morning’s cycling.

The Broxted Challenge Cycle Ride 24 miles – Depart: 9.30am

This 24 mile ride starting from the Old Station, Takeley is an ideal introduction to cycle touring for competent cyclists and passes through beautiful countryside and pretty villages. The route includes winding lanes with hedgerows and few motor cars, though there are some sections of B roads where these cannot be avoided.
Every rider will be provided with a route description sheet and map. Ride the tour at your own pace. Each rider will receive an attractive Certificate on completion.

All are welcome. Riders aged 14 years and under to be accompanied by a responsible adult; under 18s must provide parental consent on form available.

It’s free to take part since your presence is what’s needed for raising awareness of the threat that airport expansion poses to enjoyment of the countryside and heritage of North West Essex and East Herts (but we’d appreciate a small donation to Stop Stansted Expansion’s fighting fund). Parking available at adjacent sports field for those arriving by car.

Cyclists returning to the Old Station at Takeley are invited to join the lunchtime BBQ.

We look forward to seeing you on the day.
