The Wilderness Foundation UK Community Allotments Project in Chelmsford, Essex has been recognised by the O2 “It’s Your Communtiy” initiative as one of the Top 15 Community Champions. O2 have awarded the project a maximum grant of £1,000 which the Foundation will be using in the construction of two new areas of the allotments – a Heritage Vegetable Garden and a Climate Change Garden.
RIchard Corby, Project Manager of the Community Allotments for the Wilderness Foundation UK said:
“I’m delighted that the hard work of the Foundation, in partnership with Moulsham High School and Humanities College, as well as all the volunteers from the local community who tend the plots and cultivate the organic produce and flowers, has been recognised in this fashion. This grant will help us to launch our two new gardens and improve site accesibility for a broader range of beneficiaries. The support of O2 will help us to really make an impact with this already succesful programme.”
