Our “Wilderness Hero” Jon Alexander will be appearing on BBC Radio Somerset this coming Thursday (01/10/09) at around about 7:30 a.m. Tune in to hear more about Jon’s commitment to the Wilderness Foundation UK, plus the gruelling challenge he is about to undertake on Sunday when he participate in the Barcelona Ironman.
Jon has been dubbed the “Eco Ironman” by the media, thanks to his aim of attending and participating in the Barcelona Ironman in as an environmentally-friendly fashion as possible. Jon will swim the length of 76 Olympic sized pools, cycle the distance of a return trip from London to Canterbury, then run a full marathon. All in just twelve hours.
Jon says:
‘Being environmentally-friendly is not just about telling people what to do. If we’re really going to make a change it’s going to be about people realising how important the natural world is and having a better relationship with it,’
As well as enjoying the personal challenge, Jon is raising funds in support of the Wilderness Foundation UK. You can sponsor him online at:
