The Wilderness Culture Club is delighted to announce details of our visit to the Queens Gallery, London on Saturday 19th November 2011.  On this occasion we will be visiting the exhibition “The Heart of the Great Alone“.

This exhibition of remarkable photographs taken in Antarctica by Herbert George Ponting and Frank Hurley marks the 100th anniversary of Captain Scott’s ill-fated journey to the South Pole.  In addition to the exhibition, a selection of other Polar material from the Royal Collection can be viewed here including photographs and paintings associated with HRH The Duke of Edinburgh’s visit to Antarctica in 1956-7.

The Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace is a permanent space dedicated to changing exhibitions of items from the Royal Collection, the wide-ranging collection of art and treasures held in trust by The Queen for the Nation.

Tickets are priced at £11.25 including a £1.00 donation to the Wilderness Foundation to contribute to our administrative costs.

Saturday 19th November 2011.  Entry time 2:30 p.m.    Please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure prompt entry to the exhibition.  Late arrivals may be refused entry by gallery staff.

Alternatively why not join the Foundation staff for a pre-visit lunch at a nearby eatery?  (Food costs are additional and not included in your ticket price).
