The TurnAround Project went to Wales for a week  recently so the group could take part in their second wilderness journey.   Supported by Project Coordinator Helen Payne and mountain guide Rob Collister, the group embraced the wilder side of Wales through climbing, hiking and walking.

Helen says:

“We chose the splendid isolation of the Cambrian Mountains so the group could re-discover their connection with nature.    Everyone was able to utilise their learning over the last nine months and the pinnacle of the week in Wales was the group planning and mapping their own hike in the mountains.  Our week away also gave us an opportunity to reflect back on how far we’ve come this year and celebrate some not insignificant achivements.”

TurnAround 2011 is now drawing to a close, but there are further workshops ahead focused on supporting the participants into education and employment, as well as establishing themselves as independent young people.   In January 2012 all the beneficiaries who have completed the TurnAround journey will pass out through a Graduations Ceremony, hosted by programme Patron Lady Diana Kemp-Welch, but planned and delivered by the young people themselves.
