Effective leadership and advocacy is best developed through direct experience of nature
“Every human being ought to have the opportunity to experience the wilderness, for we are all part of the common heritage, mankind, animals, plants and minerals. In order to co-operate with our world we must listen and understand it in all humility” – James Mills
In protecting the environment, we know that effective leadership and advocacy is best developed through direct experience of nature. Our facilitated programmes based in wilderness are led by qualified guides who are themselves deeply committed to the concept of wilderness and learning by experience. Emphasis is placed on re-kindling the deep connections that exist between people and nature that link back to ancient humans who lived close to the earth.
Through our programmes, participants are able to embrace the spirit of wilderness. Importance is placed on personal development, respect of diversity, togetherness, simplicity of experience, and learning about the richness of an undisturbed natural environment. Tailor made workshops developing concepts of leadership and advocacy frame the wilderness journey experience before and after, thus providing tools with which to share knowledge and experience in a constructive way.
Our programmes are designed to meet the needs of:
- Schools, Cadets and Youth Groups
- Individuals and groups of Adults
- Political Leaders and Corporations wishing to explore management development in a more-challenging environment, which offers authentic engagement between people.
Our most-common trails programmes take place in Scotland, Wales, South Africa, East Africa and the USA.
