Myles Farnbank
An experienced and well qualified wilderness guide with many years of sea kayaking, canoeing, sailing and mountaineering in many of the worlds wildest places. A Fellow of The Royal Geographical Society and a Master Educator of Leave No Trace, Myles is committed to the role of adventure and nature based education and tourism in sustainable futures for communities and wildlife in the places he works. A qualified wildlife guide he have more than a passing interest in the traditional uses of plants and other natural resources. He has a first class Honours degree in Outdoor Education and a Postgraduate Certificate in Human Ecology
He has expedition sea kayaked in many varied locations from Antarctic Peninsula, Greenland, Argentina, Bylot Island in the Canadian Arctic, Norway, Sweden, Madagascar, New Zealand, West and East coast USA as well as extensively in my home waters on the west coast of Scotland.He is a BCU Level 4 Sea Coach and BCU Level 4 Canoe Coach.
Myles is Outdoor Education Advisor, Wilderness Foundation UK, and Director of Training & Senior Guide, Wilderness Scotland. He has been involved in the Sirius Programme since its inception.
Sam Harrison
With qualifications in rock-climbing, hill-walking and emergency first aid, Sam worked extensively as freelancer for various charities who work in personal and social development for inner city youth, before developing the projects currently delivered by Open Ground. He gained an MA in philosophy from Cambridge and an MSc with distinction in Human Ecology. This course brought together community learning, eco-psychology, and economics with an emphasis on engaged active study. Sam has travelled extensively in the mountain regions of the world, climbing, exploring and working with local organizations. Sam is a free-lance guide for the Sirius Programme, and is Director of Open Ground.
