Adult Trails

“I was expecting to spend five days simply viewing animals in the bush. I think I was simply preparing for a new type of holiday experience that I could tell my friends about, where I didn’t have to give much or expect any mental stimulation, purely a visual experience. But luck for me it didn’t take long for me to realise that there was something far more important being offered to me, things to discover and learn, not only about ecology , anthropology or astrology, but about life, my future and most of all about myself” – Ann Wilson

As with our school and youth trails, we partner with our sister organisation the Wilderness Leadership School in South Africa to offer a range of tailored wilderness trail opportunities for individual and adult groups from the UK.

Throughout the year we arrange a number of “Open Trails”. These are designed for individuals to join other people like them from around the world to share a trail experience. Maximum combined group size is eight people, with two guides. This is the perfect option for single people or couples to join a trail.

For groups of six to eight adults, we can arrange a trail programme specifically for your group – whether that is a family group (minimum age for children is 15 years), friends or a social group. For numbers larger than eight we can divide your group into individual parties of between six and eight people each. Following the trail, groups come back together to share their experiences and enjoy the next stage of your itinerary – perhaps a period of Cultural Immersion in one of our Zulu village programmes, or a tour of the Anglo Zulu War battlefields.

Have you considered the wilderness as:

  • A truly special Christmas experience – waking up on Christmas Day in the Umfolozi Game Reserve and enjoying breakfast beside the river while elephant, rhino and lion pass by;
  • A unique honeymoon experience where you and your new spouse can enjoy a truly special and personal journey of discovery as you start out on your life together;
  • A place to rediscover yourself, your place in the world and the things that are important to you and your loved ones

Trails take place in carefully selected areas of wilderness and as much wildness as possible. Some of the areas are designated with no infrastructure and can only be explored in foot, horseback or by canoe. Our facilitated experiences are set against some of the greatest wilderness locations, giving privileged insight and access to areas and expertise unavailable to conventional tourism and groups.
