Destinations: South Africa

South Africa is one of our most popular trail destinations, offering unique opportunities to get close to and establish a connection with the wilder side of the natural world.    It is here that you are afforded the chance to live in the domain of the lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo and leopard – the Big Five.   However, you can also take joy from the smaller creatures and an abundance of flora each with a culutral, natural and physical significance to your journey.

Our South Africa wilderness trails take place in:

  • The Umfolozi Game Reserve
  • The Greater St. Lucia Wetlands – a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • The Drakensburg Mountains
  • The Baavianskloof

After completing a five to fifteen day wilderness trail, you can also choose to spend time engaged in volunteering work – perhaps at CROW – the Centre for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife whose headquarters are in Durban, or perhaps spend time living and working alongside the Zulu people in a rural community such as Ekutheleni or Mabandla.

We are also able to arrange additional adventurous type activities, such as the ever popular Karkloof Canopy Tour and White Water Rafting (in season).
